Lots of good stuff in there: usability improvements, performance improvements, #POWER9 support, and more!
@civodul "Liberating. Guix is an advanced distribution of the GNU operating system developed by the GNU Project—which respects the freedom of computer users. "
Except for the major parts (like the linux kernel) that aren't developed by the GNU project.
I thought they'd moved past trying to retcon around HURD being a non-starter.
It's a shame because I'd be interested in this project if I didn't feel like I'd have to drink the kool-aid.
@wire @civodul It's unfortunate you're assuming that. The wording on the site is also unfortunate, and let's be frank: GNU has taken enough hits indulging RMS's controversial takes. It additionally seems unhelpful to the project to - intentionally or not - appear to be erasing all the other FOSS contributions (linux kernel, amongst them) by saying it was "Developed by the GNU project" when that is not entirely factual.
Or follow the https://www.gnu.org/gnu/about-gnu.html from the first sentence.
Or follow the "About" link and read "Guix System is an advanced distribution of the GNU operating system. It uses the Linux-libre kernel, and support for the Hurd is being worked on.".
@civodul If you wish to bake an operating system truly from scratch, first you must `guix build world`.
